From an early age, Édouard Mares has always been a gallery-goer. He first fell in love with the intense colours of Nicolas de Staël, but also with Cubism. Just like Soulages, in another vein of artists. After wanting to reproduce works by Nicolas de Staël and other lesser-known artists, he took the plunge around ten years ago. The initial idea was not to belong to any school and not to take any courses in order to retain his great freedom, even if he was aware that he would probably lack some technical elements. It's never too late to discover them for yourself, or to discover other techniques.
